Amazing food! It took me back to a true Hyderabadi shadi 😍 Delicious haleem, biryani, chicken 65, and apricot mitha! Please do not change the chef ever — keep up the good work! MashaAllah! 👏 Bay Area finally has something similar to Chicago!

I ordered delivery from this restaurant and tried the Chicken Boneless Biryani, Veg Biryani, and Majestic Chicken. The Chicken Boneless Biryani was very disappointing ❌—poor taste and loaded with artificial color (as seen in the image). The Veg Biryani seemed like plain basmati rice just fried in a pan, with no real flavor or authenticity. Only the Majestic Chicken was somewhat okay. Overall, it was a bad experience 😞. I’m unsure how this restaurant has positive reviews 🤔

Maybe it was what we ordered or just a one off but the overall dining experience at Chowrasta just did not leave that feeling of satisfaction one should get after eating a delicious meal. The place was empty and looking at the seating capacity, it is more of a to go place. The hunt for Hyderabadi haleem brought us to this place. We also got the Mutton Mandi. Both of these dishes were served in plastic containers ready to go. The goat leg shank was tender and juicy but the Mandi rice was lacking flavor. The Haleem was better of the two items. Street Parking is a pain in this area especially in rush hours. Probably will try the Biryanis next time we are here and mostly will do a take out.

Chowrasta comes across as a good alternative to Deccan morsels style restaurants. It’s more hygienic and has a better vibe but we were disappointed on the main segment - food taste :). Majestic chicken had a strong scent of turmeric, likely this ingredient was used too much, nevertheless it did have an effect on the taste. On the other hand, the chicken 65 had more red color than needed. Both starters weren’t that good. The biryani was good, it had a good balance of masala and the chicken was cooked well. I’d likely come back again only for the biryani - will do a take out and skip the hassle of dining in, which is what we did today and didn’t like at all. The food comes in to-go boxes anyway, might as well bring it home and eat:).

Overhyped? I’m not sure I get the rave reviews. Pros: • Fresh biryani around lunchtime • Nice, cool decor and overall restaurant vibe Cons: 1. Maybe it’s just me and my expectations, but the biryani felt very different .. and it’s a good things it’s different than what you usually get at Bay Area joints. But it didn’t live up to the hype. The meat was undercooked, and overall the flavor didn’t hit — unsatisfying masala, nothing close to authentic Hyderabad-style dum biryani. 2. The restaurant feels disorganized — boxes everywhere, near bathrooms, like they’re still setting up. Hopefully, they tidy up soon. 3. Bathrooms aren’t very clean. 4. Food was served in a to-go box, which felt off to me. Not a great experience. 5. $21 for mutton biryani that tastes just average. Verdict: Worth trying once, but probably not more than that.
